I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. On Thursday, March 17, 2016, I was approved by the Board of Education as the next superintendent of the Preble Shawnee Local School District. My first official day was August 1, 2016.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1996. I received my Master of Education degree from the University of Dayton in 2000 and completed requirements for a Superintendent license soon after. In 2009, I received my Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership degree from the University of Dayton. My dissertation title was "A Study of Perceived General, Intrinsic and Extrinsic Job Satisfaction Among Public School Superintendents in Southwestern Ohio."
I am forty-five years old. My wife, Heather, is a teacher at Grigsby Intermediate School in Carlisle and we have one daughter, Carlie, who is in the eighth grade this school year.
I began my educational career in 1997 in Preble County at the Twin Valley Community Local School District in West Alexandria, Ohio as a middle school teacher. Later I served as the district technology coordinator and finally, the last five years as Twin Valley South Middle School principal.
In 2005, I returned to my alma mater becoming Carlisle High School's principal. During my tenure, the high school received seven Excellent ratings from the Ohio Department of Education, a national award from High Schools That Work as a Top 100 School, as well as the organization’s highly acclaimed Gold Award in 2009.
In 2013, I was named superintendent at the Lockland School District, located in Hamilton County. At Lockland, I brought in effective services, led the district out of a Fiscal Caution designation by the Ohio Department of Education, facilitated the creation of a five year strategic plan, and strengthened the communication and trust between the school and community. During my tenure at Lockland, the high school was named a School of Promise and the elementary school received the Momentum Award by the Ohio Department of Education.
I will continue to learn about the Preble Shawnee Local School District, our past, present, and our bright future and listen to all stakeholders to learn what we do well and where we can improve.
I encourage you to "like" our Facebook page and "follow" us on Twitter. In addition to this website, Facebook and Twitter will be where we communicate the most up to date information and news about the Preble Shawnee School District. Those links are on the front page of the website.
I hope everyone has a great 2018-19 school year.
