On behalf of the Camden Primary family, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2017-2018 school year at Camden Primary. To those students and parents who are new to Camden Primary, we extend an especially warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive year.
My name is Heather Campbell and I am the principal. The 2017-2018 school year will be my eighth year as principal and my twentieth year with Preble Shawnee. Preble Shawnee is my home. Not only do I work here, I am a Preble Shawnee graduate. I live within the school district with my husband, Harvey, and our three children.
I am very proud to be a part of Camden Primary. We have I believe the best and most dedicated staff around.
The staff has been working hard and is excited to continue with our Reading-at-Home program this year. The theme for this year is “Building Great Readers”. We will kick off this program in October. Continue to look for information on our website. We also will be kicking off Espark. Students will be working on IPAD's using Espark to further their knowledge. This is a very exciting time for our students.
We encourage you to become active in our PTO. They have combined with West Elkton and will be working to create great events for our students and continue wonderful support for our staff. They meet once a month and will keep you updated through our website and newsletters. We will be sending home a letter to parents soon showing all of the ways the PTO helps our school.
Another way to get involved is to volunteer to help tutor students, chaperone field trips, or organize classroom celebrations. We can never have too much help. We will be looking for parents who would like to come in and work with students. I am very excited that we are continuting Project MORE at Camden Primary this year. We will need dedicated volunteers who can come in and work with our students in reading. If you think this is something you would be interested in, please give us a call. Even if you can only give 30-60 minutes of your time a week, that would be a huge help!
Finally, if your child needs additional support or if you have a concern, please do not hesitate to contact his/her teacher. It is our mission to support your child in whatever way we can. Working together makes a difference in the lives of our students.
We thank you for your support and welcome you to the new school year.
Mrs. Heather Campbell
