On behalf of the Camden Primary family, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2021-2022 school year at Camden Primary. I can't wait to hear from the students about their summer adventures. I look forward to seeing you all and continuing to serve you, your children and our community. To those students and parents who are new to Camden Primary, we extend an especially warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive year.
My name is Heather Campbell and I am the principal. This school year will be my 12th year as principal and my 24th year with Preble Shawnee. Preble Shawnee is my home. Not only do I work here, I am a Preble Shawnee graduate. I live within the school district with my husband, Harvey, and our three children. I am very proud to be a part of Preble Shawnee Elementary. We have I believe the best and most dedicated staff around.
I am happy to introduce to you three new staff members. Jenna O'Connell is joining us as our new guidance counselor. She comes to us from Park Layne Elementary and will be continuing as an "Arrow". Samantha Donson is joining our 4th grade team this year. She just graduated from Wright State University and is excited to begin her teaching career. Darcy Powell will be joining us as one of our title teachers. She comes to us from Richmond and brings some experience that she will be able to use in reaching our students.
We are looking forward to this coming school year. Last year while it was challenging and we learned a lot, it was not the year we had hoped for. One thing we have seen throughout the pandemic is how this has affected our students and their progress. While some students have continued to make great gains and were not very affected, many others have made much slower progress putting them behind. We have added two title teachers this year to assist us with closing the gap our students may have aquired during this time.
We are continuing with our R.A.H program this year. The theme for this year is “Treasure a Good Book”. We will kick off this program in October. Continue to look for information coming soon.
We encourage you to become active in our PTO. Our PTO this year will be for grades Prek-4th grade. Our new president is Chelsie Jones. They usually meet once a month and will keep you updated through our website and newsletters. Even if you can't attend regular meetings but would like to help with just one event during the year, your help is greatly appreciated.
Finally, if your child needs additional support or if you have a concern, please do not hesitate to contact his/her teacher. It is our mission to support your child in whatever way we can. Working together makes a difference in the lives of our students.
We thank you for your support and welcome you to the new school year.
Mrs. Heather Campbell
